The rheology lab was established in 1989 by Dr. Stanley Hirschi and Dr. Leela Rakesh and was originally located in Brooks Hall . Funding for the rheometer came from the State of Michigan Research Excellence Fund. The lab has had joint projects from Dow Chemical, Dow Corning and Midland Molecular Institute. The group also added computer modeling . In Fall 1992, the lab was moved to its present location. The new TA 2000 Rheometer and 2 Silicon Graphics workstation was provided by the College of Science and Technology, Central Michigan University. In Fall 2002, the lab was moved to its present Location. The main objective of the group is to establish structure property relationships in materials.
