Directions from Lansing (Airport) to Mt. Pleasant (CMU)

1.  Airport to I-69/27.

The main airport entrance/exit road runs south out of the airport parking area.  Your first task is to get to Airport Rd going north.  There are two ways to do this:

• You can take the airport exit road south to N. Grand River, make a right onto Grand River.  Go west on Grand River, across a small bridge, to Airport Rd.  Go north on Airport Rd. to intersection with I-69, the red road on map.  Turn right onto I-69.  You'll be heading roughly east.
• Alternatively, about halfway down the airport exit road, you should see a sign indicating To I-69 to the right.  If you turn right there and follow road, you'll get to Airport Rd.  Turn right onto Airport Rd and continue to I-69 as above.

2.  To 127 going north

This seems a little complicated, but if you pay careful attention to the signs, it is not too bad.  As you are driving roughly east on I-69 you DO NOT want to take Exit 87, which is Business 127.  You want to continue on I-69 to something like Exit 89B.  Basically you want to head north on 127 in the direction of St. Johns, Mt. Pleasant, Clare.  (NOTE:  The locations of exits on map are NOT correct for drivers heading east on 69.)

3.  North to Mt. Pleasant

.Continue north on 127 to Mt. Pleasant, about 60 miles.  The limited access part of the road will cease just north of St. Johns, but just keep on 127 going north.  It becomes limited access again shortly before Ithaca. 

4.  Mt. Pleasant Exit

You will want to take the first of two Mt. Pleasant exits.  It exits from left lane.

This long exit road leads into Business 127, also called Mission St. or "Old 27."  The first light you encounter will be at Blue Grass Rd. (to the right)/West Campus Drive (to the left).  If you want the Comfort Inn, take a left at this light.

If you want to come directly to campus, continue on Mission St. to second light, which is at Broomfield.  Turn left (west) onto Broomfield and then a reasonably quick right onto East Campus Drive, going north.
 

5.  To parking lot

Continue north on East Campus Drive to just past power plant, then take a left to enter parking lot.

Park where you can.  (We'll have parking permit in dept. office.)

At the south-west corner of the parking lot is the IET bldg.  It has a white "erector-set" sculpture outside it.  North of IET is the back of Bush Theatre & Moore Hall (red brick), and north of Bush is the back of the new Music Bldg (grey & white block).  Dow Science (red brick) is just west of Bush.  Head west between IET and Bush Theatre.  Ottawa Ct. is on the south side of Bush/Moore and Dow.  Department offices for both Physics (Dow 203) and Chemistry (Dow 268) are on the second floor.  A campus map is located at http://map.cmich.edu.  We'll be looking for you!
